Change is the only Constant!!
We all face changes every day – whether it is a simple change in
the weather, our schedule or expected change of seasons.
Change
affects all of us and the way we deal with it is different for different people.
CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT THING!!!
To
expect change has brought me hope during challenging or unexpected life events.
This same thought has also brought fear in situations where the last thing I
wanted was change. I’ve come to realize it’s not the circumstances or the
changes that dictate how my life will go, but rather how I handle those changes
and disruptions. No matter the change we experience, how we embrace that change
will forever impact how we are able to live with the change.
I have a love hate relationship with change.
When things go down, the hopeful us find peace in the fact that no
matter what, things are not going to be the same. They might get better or
worse but they are going to change. This is unavoidable whether we try to
change the situation, circumstance or anything. However, when life is going
great for us, we want everything to stay this way forever. We want happy times
to sustain. Unfortunately, this is not the way life works. Change is
inevitable. It is going to happen.
Brian Faulkner once said “Life is like a
book. There are good chapters and bad chapters. But when you get to a bad
chapter, you don’t stop reading the book. If you do, you will never know what
happens next.” Most of us skip those bad chapters, thinking that this
will make them feel good, but that’s not true, running away from your emotions,
or how you feel is not the solution. Hoping that there are good chapters in
your story is good, but not at the cost of bad ones. Embrace the bad chapters,
learn from them, and open your horizon to the good ones. Take a fresh start!!
If change is inevitable, then what’s the
point of discussing? Well, we are not only affected by change, we also get
affected by how we feel about the change. Some fear it, some resist it, some
accept it, and some avoid it. It depends on the situation that it eludes. It’s
important to have a positive outlook, a healthy attitude towards the changes,
it’s important to live our lives to the fullest. Live in the present, without
being judgemental, notice and accept the thing as it is. Take responsibility of
your actions, be aware of the choices you make (or do not make) and be ready to
accept the changes it might bring. Because change comes with “unknown” and this
uncertainty can be difficult to accept for some people. It’s risky, challenging
and difficult to embrace.
Remember that changes are a normal part of life,
It is also amazing how we each have our own resiliency and ability to recover
from, or adjust easily to, change. Practice living life with an attitude of
gratitude and embrace change as an opportunity for continuous renewal and
growth.
