Teacher, The Guiding Light✨

17th December was the last day of my internship as a teacher. It was a learning experience, an enriching experience, made new friends, met a lot of new people, crossed few barriers of mind and heart, but the most beautiful and memorable experience I gained was as a teacher. I had no idea of what my students feel about my teaching till the last day. The poured their hearts out on the last day of internship. The feeling was overwhelming and surreal. I realised how many lives I have touched through my teaching, how much students have got connected to me during this short span of time. Honestly speaking I didn't know that I had the trait of teaching in me, I could also be a good teacher. I have always idolized my nana ji and my mother as a teacher, for me, they are the perfect examples of a good teacher. They are not only the masters in their respective subjects, but also they connect really well with their students, they are more like a guardian, a friend to their students. Firstly, I had never dreamt of becoming a teacher, secondly, I had always wished that, if I ever become one, then I should be like them. I am glad that I have some of these qualities in me. 

A teacher finds the supreme place in Hindu traditions and mythology because he propagates knowledge and wisdom to the world. They shape the future and lives of their students. Teachers go beyond their classroom roles and mentor students with life skills and worldly intellect. They nurture a student’s personality, help struggling students cope with studies, act as role models, and identify hidden talents without expectations. Their position doesn’t confine to classroom teaching but goes beyond that. The connection and the bond they form with children is pious. That extra push to work harder and the appreciation for the work done well all come from a teacher. A great teacher makes learning enjoyable and exciting. They engage students through stimulating environment and thus bring out the inquisitive energy of the children. 

Great teachers have the ability to change lives for the better. Teachers can act as a support system that is lacking elsewhere in students’ lives. They can be a role model and an inspiration to go further and to dream bigger. They hold students accountable for their successes and failures and good teachers won’t let their talented students get away with not living up to their full potential. Teachers of all walks of life and subjects have the ability to shape opinions and help form ideas about society, life and personal goals. Teachers can also expand students’ limits and push their creativity.

Teaching is a tough job, but it is one where you can make the most impact in another person’s life. 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students and the teachers for being so supportive and cooperative and making this short journey a memorable one.
