LETS MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN!!!
Let’s talk about the most talked about
topic these days; MENTAL HEALTH, ANXIETY, STRESS and DEPRESSION. Depression isn’t just a word.
It’s real. It’s the biggest pandemic. At its worst depression can lead to
SUICIDE. DEPRESSION IS VICIOUS. Those who are dealing with this demon are not weak;
they just have weak moments where they feel hopeless, useless, misunderstood
and ALONE. They might feel unloved too. AND THAT IS OKAY!!!! IT’S OKAY TO NOT
TO BE OKAY. It’s okay to be vulnerable sometimes. Nobody chooses depression.
You cannot understand the extent to which depression can make one hollow from
inside. Don’t misinterpret it with sadness. Don’t say that its just a phase,
don’t tell the person going through this that he/ she is overthinking. Trust me
you are killing that person from inside if you are doing so.
Instead of passing judgements just lend
your ears to that person and listen. JUST LISTEN. They deserve to be heard, to
be empathised, to be accepted just the way they are. Before labelling someone
who committed suicide have we questioned ourselves that were we sensitive
towards that one person who was suffering from a mental health issue, did we allow
them to confide their fears and feelings to us? If not, then we don’t have the
right to pass judgements. It’s not
necessary that people cry or be at their worst to prove that they are in
depression. Most of the times it’s not even visible on the person's face. So
just telling them that “BE STRONG” will not help them to come out of that
darkness.
Be more aware, be more accepting, create an
environment where we can share our real feelings more often and be who we
really are.
Also a lot of people say “I’m there to listen”, “talk to people”, “and seek help”.
Do you really think that any random person will come up to you and tell you
about their anxieties, their fears? They won’t come to you just like that.
Talking about depression or mental health issues is not as easy as it seems. It
takes lot of guts to speak up, the reason being the stigma attached to it. It’s
misunderstood and not taken seriously. Instead of posting such stories, create
an environment where speaking up is not stigmatised, where there are no
judgements, where there is acceptance.
Reach out to your loved ones and ask them often if they are feeling okay.
Instead of asking “how are you”, ask “how have you been feeling”. Instead of
“what are you doing right now” ask “how does it feel to be you right now”.
Check on them without any reason; show them that you are there, instead of just
saying it.
MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN!!
MAKE IT A HAPPIER AND ACCEPTING PLACE!!
DON’T JUST SAY IT, DO IT AND PROVE IT!!
