Equity in Science

Imagine a world where everyone had an equal opportunity to pursue a career in science, where the next Einstein could come from any background, any country, any gender and not just the privileged few. Equity in science is about unlocking the full potential of human ingenuity. Equity refers to fairness and justice in the distribution of resources, opportunities, and privileges, taking into account the unique circumstances and needs of individuals or groups. It recognises that different individuals or groups may require different levels of support or accommodations to achieve a level playing field. Equity aims to address historical and systemic disadvantages and achieve ‘equality of opportunity’. Equality refers to the principle of treating everyone the same or providing the exact same opportunities and resources to all individuals or groups regardless of need. It focuses on uniformity and equal treatment without necessarily considering the specific needs, circumstances, or histor...

“Be the energy you want to attract.”

YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK Manifestation is the practice of thinking aspirational thoughts with the purpose of making them reality. If you keenly study your life, you’ll understand that everything which you have now in your life is the end product of what your past thoughts and actions were. So it clearly means that you’re able to get what you want by changing your thoughts and focusing on one desire. You start feeding something and it manifests like that. Obviously, you yourself also need to do other stuff alongside manifestation to get what you want. But, manifesting helps to achieve those goals quicker. The law of attraction embodies the philosophy of how positive thoughts bring positive results and negative thoughts bring adverse outcomes. It means that our thoughts are our energy, and the kind of energy we put out into the universe is the one we will get back.  To break it down simply, think about it this way: if you think of something repeatedly, then that thoug...

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Image
On 15th August, 1947 India made her 'Tryst with Destiny'. On this day, the 200- year old British regime on Indian soil came to an end and by the Independence Act, 1947 the then Governor-general of India, Lord Mountbatten declared her a free nation. This year, our country celebrates 75 years of her freedom from foreign rule and very naturally comes the concern about what actually this means to the Indian youth. India, in the mid-18th century started to become a part of the British Empire and gradually became one of the biggest British colonies in the world. This foreign rule and dependence was fought against and we achieved independence after a lot of struggle and movements. After all these years of gaining freedom, we surely need to analyse how far India has come along the way of her progress as we entered in the 21st century. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, in his speech as the first Prime-minister of free India, said: "A moment has come, which but comes very rarely i...

Celebrate every day as Environment Day!!

One of the most important aspects of human development should be to emphasize the need to be fair and just to nature and its beings. We cannot ever be fully developed unless and until our lives are reconnected and is in balance, cooperation and in HARMONY with nature. Human development encompasses socio-economic development, emancipative cultural change, extension of civil rights. This can lead to selfish and ruthless human activities, our actions primarily being focussed on what we need, regardless of how much our environment can bear and tolerate, resulting in unsustainable development. Earth being the only planet with life, a perfect composition of heat, air, water and soil. Nature doesn’t need people; it is us who need nature to thrive. Harmony with nature is what our sustainable goal should be. Otherwise we should be prepared for a tsunami of throwaway plastics in the sea or be prepared to step outside with oxygen cylinder at our back. The day by day increasing levels of pollution...

We, human beings, are social creatures by nature. For us socialising and engaging with others in a conversation is almost as crucial for survival as eating and breathing. With time, our ways of communicating has evolved. With the development of technology and advancement in medium of communication, there are many channels and modalities through which one can communicate. Gone are the good golden days when people used to sit together and enjoy the “face to face” interactions. The regular one to one interactions are replaced by the web conferencing, instant messaging and emails. The social media has no doubt played an important role in reviving and connecting with our long lost pals and family members through its medium. Individuals who are living away from their families remain connected with them. At the professional level, organisations have found a new channel of communication through the use of online platforms. These platforms are a blessing in disguise for the organisation...

Every one of us remains dissatisfied throughout one’s life regarding the deprivation of one or the other kind. And this deprivation is nothing but sheer notional as the same is a deprivation about something which humans have themselves created. Humans have created wealth, religion, caste and other such amorphous and false divisions and values in their communal life and have since been running after them. Knowing very well that none of our material possessions would accompany us to the next world, we still keep chasing them. We not only chase, we actually keep fighting and competing for the false acquisitions thereby making our life on earth really excruciating. In the process, we continue making life of the self and that of our fellow human being still more pathetic and painful. While all this happens, we can clearly see through the working of a definite plan of the Almighty. One does feel there is an order in disorder; there is a system, which works through the apparent chaos. Desti...
